“Conversations” with Laura Berman

Continuing with our “The Art of Compassion” exhibition series, The Lab Vegutainment Centre (operated by your friends at Wishbone Animal Rights Lab) is pleased to bring you the work of Laura Berman, a Toronto artist transplanted in 2012 to the rural farming community of Castleton, Ontario.
Exhibit launch and reception will take place Saturday, November 29th, with the show running through January 29th, 2026. Light plant-based refreshments will be served at the reception and elevator access is available via 600 Bay Street. This is a pay-what-you-wish event.
‘Conversations’ presents a collection of intimate portraits that explore the emotional and interior lives of animals, illuminating the complexity, intelligence, and depth of feeling often overlooked or misunderstood.
This exhibition challenges the conventional view of animals as objects or commodities, inviting viewers to consider them as sentient beings with unique personalities and emotional depth. By focusing on moments of connection and vulnerability, the works foster empathy and a deeper understanding of the intrinsic value of non-human life.
This project is both a visual celebration and an ethical invitation: to see animals not merely as background figures or commodities within our food system, but as vibrant, sentient companions sharing our world.
Through this lens, the exhibition encourages a more compassionate, respectful engagement with all living beings.
All work is printed in limited editions by a master printer on archival-quality fine art paper and is available in a variety of sizes. Work is sold unframed.
