Call to Action – Email to Members of Parliament
September 19 @ 8:00 am - September 26 @ 5:00 pm
Recently, bills C-47 and S-5 became law. The parts of these two bills pertaining to animal testing will prevent millions of lives from being bred into an existence of exploitation. With the passing of these two bills, Canada has become a leader in the fight against vivisection, which we hope will lead down the path toward a total ban on animal testing across all industries.
Each year, millions of animals are used and tortured in post-secondary institutions around the world and according to new research commissioned by the Animal Alliance of Canada Fund (AAC Fund), 8 in 10 Canadians want post-secondary institutions to stop using animals for educational purposes, research, and testing.
In 2021, University of Toronto alone used 159,803 animals from 161 species.
It would be in the best interest of post-secondary institutions across the country to heed these findings and move toward transitioning to non-animal research methods.
Please take a few seconds to send a pre-written email to all Ontario Members of Parliament, asking them to build on the momentum of passing bills C-47 and S-5 and introduce a new bill that will ban all post-secondary institutions from using animals for educational purposes, research, and testing. All executives in the animal research department at University of Toronto will be bcc’d on the email.
