SUMMARY:AR Chats @ Wishbone
DESCRIPTION:Come join with other like-minded and like-hearted people to chat\, brainstorm\, and strategize about standing up for the animals! \nOn the agenda: Along with general discussion about getting animal-active\, planning has begun for the 2025 Toronto Animal Rights March! Anyone interested in volunteering as an organizer\, we look forward to seeing you. \nZoom link available. Contact Jenny McQueen\, Colleen Burns\, or Sue Spahr for details. \nA few details about AR Chats @Wishbone: \nWhether you’re a seasoned advocate or someone new to the scene\, this is a judgment-free\, no-pressure environment that welcomes every idea and supports every comfort level. Because each person is uniquely wired and different tactics resonate with different people\, there’s no one foolproof form of activism. \nAfter each session\, attendees are encouraged to participate in a street action to put your new skills and energy into practice (this is totally voluntary\, no pressure). And sometimes homework will be assigned and due for discussion at the next scheduled meeting. \nSome attend one week\, but can’t come to the next one…just attend when you can. \nPlease feel free to bring a plant-based food item to share. \nLet’s return Toronto and other cities in Ontario to the thriving\, prolific animal activism centres they once were! \nAs the building that houses Wishbone is a heritage building boasting one of the last attendant-operated elevators in the city of Toronto (but only during weekday office hours)\, Wishbone will unfortunately not be accessible to anyone requiring a lift to the third floor. Our apologies in advance for this inconvenience. \nWishbone Animal Rights Lab…where vegan is the default\, NOT the option.

SUMMARY:Ontario Rally and Vigil for Endangered Species
DESCRIPTION:Join us to stand up for species-at-risk and our shared natural ecosystems! We will take over Queen’s Park to speak for the animals\, plants and fungi the Ford government seems to think are expendable. \nBring your flora\, fauna and fungi art\, costumes\, signs and lets make sure this government knows: species at risk are not red tape\, habitats are not for sale and First Nations’ rights are not optional. \nThe Ford government’s latest attempted land-grab–Bill 5– proposes to repeal Ontario’s Endangered Species Act and utterly abandon the province’s commitment to protecting wildlife and their habitats\, sacrificing them on the alter of corporate profits and hand-outs to big developers\, all in the middle of a biodiversity crisis. \nBill 5 also proposes to give unprecedented\, undemocratic amd unconstitutional powers to the provincial government through the designation of “Special Economic Zones” which would be above the law\, trampling on Indigenous Rights and community consultation.
