To bring peace to a violent space. Disruptions can take place at a different time. \n2) Truck Drivers:\nThough we don’t respect what they are doing for a living\, let’s respect the drivers for giving us this time to show the world the plight of farmed animals. \n3) Slaughterhouse Workers:\nSome workers may try to taunt (though rarely anymore). Offer a wave or peace sign instead of a negative reaction. Break the cycle of violence. \nKeep Arms out of the truck: \nWe’ve experienced a few serious injuries from vigil attendees putting hands/arms into the truck. Please avoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons: \n1) The truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it. \n2) Pigs are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. DESCRIPTION:What’s scarier than Friday the 13th? Ethiopian Airlines transporting monkeys to laboratories for cruel and agonizing experiments\, leading to their eventual\, tragic demise. Now that’s a true horror! \nIn a follow-up to our protest last week at the airline’s Toronto office and in collaboration with our dear friends Progress 4 Science in Los Angeles\, USA\, we have created this important and easy action. Like TAVA\, P4S is working with PETA on its campaign targeting Ethiopian Airlines. \nOn Friday\, December 13\, we are asking as many people as possible to storm Ethiopian Airlines’ Facebook page and cause a commotion by commenting on as many posts as possible (the more recent the post\, the more effective). If you’re able to\, please also bombard the page via Messenger. Sample comments can be found below. \nWe will be posting the airline’s handle on Friday morning. Please refrain from taking part in this call to action until then as we need everyone to participate on the same day. \nThere is also an Instagram action that you can find at www.instagram.com/to.antivivisection. \nHere are some sample comments that you can easily copy and paste:\n– Ethiopian Airlines ships monkeys to laboratories be tortured and killed in crude and painful experiments. Please stop the madness and go cruelty-free!- Your airline has been cited for multiple violations of federal animal welfare laws. To bring peace to a violent space. Disruptions can take place at a different time. \n2) Truck Drivers:\nThough we don’t respect what they are doing for a living\, let’s respect the drivers for giving us this time to show the world the plight of farmed animals. \n3) Slaughterhouse Workers:\nKeep Arms out of the truck: \nWe’ve experienced a few serious injuries from vigil attendees putting hands/arms into the truck. Please avoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons: \n1) The truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it. \n2) Pigs are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some pigs will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand. \n3) Fear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. DESCRIPTION:Movie Night at the Lab! Wishbone Animal Rights Lab and We The Free are teaming up once again\, this time to bring you “The Land of Ahimsa”. Invite your non-vegan friends\, family\, and co-workers! \nThe concept of Ahimsa — or respect for all living things and avoidance of violence towards others — is an age-old concept espoused by many religions. But now with our society’s full knowledge of animal exploitation and the atrocities happening in\, for example\, the dairy and leather industries\, can we still call India ‘the land of Ahimsa’? \nThis thought-provoking feature-length documentary brings us the story of Dolly Vyas-Ahuja’s journey to veganism and explores the notion of the people of India returning to their roots and living their peaceful values. \nThe filmmakers hope that “The Land of Ahimsa” will encourage Indians\, as well as viewers all around the world\, to practise “Ahimsa”…and for them to persuade others to do the same. \nWe also have a special treat…one of the editors of the film\, Ray Kowalchuk\, will be in-theatre to introduce the film and be available for a Q&A at the movie’s completion. \nThe Lab is a default-vegan space\, so all outside food must be plant-based. Animal-friendly snacks are available at the concession stand. Vish\, our little plushie Ambassador of Anti-Speciesism\, gets LOTS to eat\, so don’t let him fool you when he asks for some of your popcorn! \nFYI: The Lab is located within a heritage building boasting one of the last attendant-operated elevators in the city of Toronto. Unfortunately for this particular event\, we are unable to accommodate anyone requiring a lift to the 3rd floor.
