SUMMARY:Quiet Cameras\, Loud Stories: Capturing Wildlife & Climate Storytelling at Scale
DESCRIPTION:🗓️ Tuesday\, June 2 \n⏰ 6pm – 8pm \n📍 The Lab | Vegutainment Centre \n108 Dundas St W\, 2nd Floor \n  \nAbout Event \nTraditional film production is built on a “Waste Era” mindset: Heavy gear\, large crews\, and high-energy footprints. But for the climate-conscious founder\, animal advocate\, or solo marketer\, this bloat is a barrier to both authenticity and sustainability. \nJoin award-winning documentary filmmaker and Chartered Marketer Alex Leonard for a technical\, strategy-first workshop at The Lab. We are moving past “output” and toward Resource Sovereignty: the ability to capture professional-grade\, high-ROI wildlife and climate content using minimal gear and maximum narrative intent. \nThe objective of the workshop is to empower marketing creators and founders to build a repeatable\, low-waste content system that prioritizes radical honesty and technical efficiency over high-production bloat. The workshop will explore the idea of AI tools\, how they can build repeatable systems\, and AI and datacentre’s roll on the environment. \nThe event\, hosted by AL Media and Wishbone Animal Rights Lab/The Lab\, is a workshop for solo creators\, founders\, and marketers who want a repeatable content system not another tool list. \nLearn the non-negotiable tools every creator needs\, how AI can accelerate your planning without replacing your voice\, and a framework for turning raw ideas into polished video. \n  \nA NOTE ON THE SPACE \nWishbone Animal Rights Labs/The Lab | Vegutainment & Business Centre are cruelty-free venues. As a courtesy to the space\, we kindly ask that you avoid wearing animal-derived materials (leather\, fur\, etc.) and refrain from bringing any animal-product food or beverages into the building. Plant-based snacks will be provided. Thanks for honouring the space. \n  \nDIRECTIONS \nFrom St. Patrick Station (Line 1\, University side) Exit at Dundas level → cross to north side → walk east on Dundas → past Centre Avenue → Wishbone is on your left\, just before or right at Bay. 5–6 min · ~450m. \n505 Dundas streetcar stops at Bay & Dundas — 30-second walk east from the stop. \nClosest parking: Green P at City Hall (110 Queen W)\, Eaton Centre garage\, or Atrium on Bay. All 4–7 min walking. \n  \nABOUT AL MEDIA \nAL Media is a Toronto-based content studio at the intersection of sustainability\, video storytelling\, and AI-driven workflows. Founded by Alex Leonard\, Chartered Marketer and content strategist with 15M+ views generated across 30+ technical and environmental brands\, AL Media helps complex businesses translate ideas into video that converts. The studio’s work spans conservation filmmaking\, B2B sustainability narratives\, and the operating systems that let solo creators ship at agency quality without burning out. AL Media is committed to producing content that is honest about its impact and built to last. \nLearn more: https://www.alexleonardmedia.com/ \n  \nABOUT WISHBONE ANIMAL RIGHTS LAB/THE LAB \nThe Lab\, the subling space to Wishbone Animal Rights Lab\, is Toronto’s new “vegutainment” space; a community-built venue dedicated to cruelty-free programming\, plant-based food\, and ethics-forward gatherings. Located at 108 Dundas Street West\, Wishbone hosts events that align with its founding commitment to animal welfare\, transparent food systems\, and a more compassionate cultural future. The space invites guests to participate in those values\, not just visit them. \nLearn more: https://wishbonearlab.ca/ \n  \nAbout the Host: \nAlex Leonard | Founder\, AL Media Alex is a Chartered Marketer and Content Strategist specializing in translating complex technical and environmental concepts into visceral\, high-ROI narratives. Alex has generated over 15 million views for a global portfolio of 30+ brands by architecting Visual Identities that Last. As a Fast Mover in the climate crisis era\, Alex deploys a personal brand that is focused on environmental storytelling and more effective ways to capture video content sustainably. Alex’s focus is on moving beyond output to deliver measurable business outcomes\, bridging the gap between creative storytelling and strategic B2B growth. \n  \nSue Spahr | Co-Founder\, Wishbone Animal Rights Lab/The Lab | Vegutainment & Business Centre \nSue Spahr is a dedicated advocate and the co-founder of Wishbone Animal Rights Lab\, a pioneering “Vegutainment” center located in the heart of downtown Toronto. With a focus on environmental safety and animal protection\, Sue has been instrumental in transforming their second-floor heritage space into a hub for inclusive education and community media resources. Under her leadership\, Wishbone Labs serves as both a social space and a professional gallery\, aiming to host over 2\,000 visitors annually who are passionate about sustainable living. Sue’s work is defined by the belief that for the environmental movement to be effective\, it must first be accessible to everyone\, setting a new standard for small-footprint non-profits in urban centres. \n  \nI understand when I attend an event I enter an area where photography\, audio\, and video recording may occur. By entering the event premises\, I consent to such recording media and its release\, publication\, exhibition or reproduction. \n  \nTickets: https://luma.com/tocw-9r44

SUMMARY:Rethinking the Menu: Mobilizing Cities for Climate-Safe and Plant-Based Food Systems
DESCRIPTION:🗓️ June 3 \n⏰ 6:00pm-7:30pm \n📍 Wishbone Animal Rights Lab\, Suite 305 \n600 Bay Street \n💲 Cost: Free \n  \nCities have a critical opportunity to lead on climate action through food. \n  \nFive cities in southern Ontario have endorsed the Plant Based Treaty to date. This panel explores our partnerships with cities to promote plant-based food policies and greening the city: \n  \n– Richmond Hill – including sharing recipes\, vendors and films to promote plant-based food and introducing plant-based pancakes at Maple Syrup festival; \n  \n– Brampton – now has plant based options at events and plant based food awareness week during Earth Month; \n  \n– Caledon – we do food demos (including making hyper nourishing green smoothies) for the mayor and city councillor and public for Earth Hour\, Earth Day and Waste Reduction days. \n  \n– Shifting to plant-based food menus across public institutions\, workplaces\, and communities can lower greenhouse gas emissions\, reduce land and water use\, improve public health\, and increase access to affordable food options. \n  \nThis session focuses on action\, including how to advocate for policy change and scale impact. Attendees will leave with clear next steps to become part of a campaign and help bring more cities on board as part of a growing global movement for plant-based food systems. \n  \nAbout the Host: \nThe Plant Based Treaty is a global initiative that encourages governments\, institutions\, and individuals to shift toward plant-based food systems to address climate change\, biodiversity loss\, and food insecurity. It works through policy advocacy\, public information campaigns\, and partnerships to support a transition away from animal agriculture toward sustainable\, plant-based solutions. \n  \nRegister here: \nhttps://luma.com/n3gb3r6d \n  \nOrganizer’s website: \n🌱 https://plantbasedtreaty.org/ \n  \n🐾 Attention: \n⚠️ Animal-free foods only.

SUMMARY:(13 Cities) Stop Cage Cruelty: CEO Profit vs. Animal Welfare
DESCRIPTION:In 2016\, Sobeys and other grocery chains owned by Empire Co. made a public promise to go 100% cage-free by 2025. Now\, a decade later\, they have backtracked on their word. While families in our community struggle with the rising cost of groceries\, Sobeys is posting record earnings and using “affordability” as a shield for ongoing cage cruelty. \nThis demonstration is part of Animal Justice’s largest nationwide protest yet\, with 13 cities across Canada participating to demand an end to cages. \nWe’re gathering to demand that CEO Pierre St-Laurent\, honour his company’s commitment. If Sobeys and Empire can afford millions in executive bonuses\, they can afford to get hens out of cages. \nTHE MATH OF CRUELTY: We will be unveiling our “Giant Receipt of Cruelty” to show exactly where Sobeys and Empire’s priorities lie: \n\nItem 1: CEO Compensation — $3.4 Million\nItem 2: Annual Profit — $700 Million\nItem 3: Broken Promises — 10 Years\n\nTOTAL PRICE: A lifetime of suffering for millions of hens. \nWe’ll also be sharing the EggSCANada app with shoppers so they can learn the truth behind egg industry labels and directly contact grocery executives themselves. \nWhat to bring: Your voice and your passion! We will provide signs\, including the giant receipt! \nLet’s let Sobeys and Empire know: Canadians see through the smokescreen. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:🚨 PROTEST: Unilever’s World Cup – Terms & Conditions Apply! 🚨
DESCRIPTION:📅 When: Saturday\, June 27\, 2026 at 12:30 PM \nWhere: Nathan Phillips Square \nWhile Unilever spends millions sponsoring the FIFA World Cup in Toronto—plastering brands like Hellmann’s\, Amora\, Dove\, and Knorr across our city—they are hiding a dark secret. Unilever just walked back its global promise to go 100% cage-free.\nYou can’t celebrate the World Cup and play by different rules! There is no fair play for hens under Unilever’s current global policy. It’s time for them to play fair for all hens everywhere.\nThey have protected hens in North America and Europe\, but they are leaving over 2 million hens trapped in cruel\, cramped wire cages across the rest of the world. We are gathering to demand that Unilever stops its selective ethics. Animal welfare shouldn’t depend on geography!\nBring your voices\, your friends\, and your passion. Let’s make sure Unilever hears Toronto loud and clear: Break the cages\, not your promises!\n🐔🛑\n👉 #UnileverUnmasked #GoCageFree #EndTheCageAge #TorontoProtest \nWe will have a banner\, signs\, and leaflets to use the day of. Come with yourself and bonus if you can bring a friend!🐾🐓🐣🐣💚\nBy attending this and other Mercy For Animals events\, you agree to our Volunteer Terms (https://mercyforanimals.org/volunteer-terms/) and Volunteer Handbook (https://file-cdn.mercyforanimals.org/…/MFA-Volunteer…).\nIf you have any questions feel free to message me on Facebook or by email at animalsmatter@hotmail.com.\nThank you\,\nKelli Demontneay🐾🌱🐓🐣
