SUMMARY:Protest & Outreach to Save the York 9
DESCRIPTION:🚨 PROTEST TO STOP YORK UNIVERSITY’S PRIMATE RESEARCH \n📍 TTC York University subway station entrances at 120 Ian McDonald Blvd.\, Toronto\n🕜 Friday\, November 6th | 3 PM – 5 PM \nSigns\, banners\, leaflets\, and tablets to play investigation footage will be provided. We’ll be handing out Save the York 9 t-shirts and tote bags to students to wear around campus. Please keep outreach friendly and respectful. If possible\, avoid clothing with unrelated logos or messaging so our campaign visuals remain clear and unified. Please follow organizers’ plans for the day. Questions\, ideas\, and feedback are always welcome\, and we can discuss them together at the end of the event. \n📢 Invite your friends and share this event. The bigger our turnout\, the harder this issue is to ignore. \n🐒 WHY WE’RE THERE\nNine rhesus macaques are currently being used in experiments at York University. Some have reportedly spent more than 17 years inside the laboratory. \nAn undercover investigation by Last Chance for Animals (LCA) documented disturbing conditions and procedures\, including water restriction\, permanent restraint collars\, permanent head posts and chamber implants in their skulls for brain access\, repeated invasive surgeries\, prolonged social isolation and stereotypic behaviours associated with psychological distress. According to the investigation\, some macaques were observed drinking their own urine amid water restriction\, while one\, Liesl\, has suffered significant vision loss. Seven of the nine were reportedly housed alone. \nWe want the York 9 released so they can finally retire from research. \nBut this campaign is about more than nine macaques. \n🔬 OLD SCIENCE → NEW SCIENCE \nWe are also calling for a transition away from animal experimentation and toward modern\, human-relevant New Approach Methodologies (NAMs). \nInstead of continuing invasive experiments on primates\, we want to see Canada invest in innovative non-animal science and educate the next generation of researchers in methods that don’t depend on harming animals. \n⬇️ LEARN MORE • WATCH THE INVESTIGATION • TAKE ACTION\nhttps://www.SaveTheYork9.com \nOther ways you can help below.\nOntario Residents: Tell Your MPP to Ban Primate Testing\nhttps://secure.lcanimal.org/page/100401/action/1 \nPremier Ford: Ban Primate Testing in Ontario\nhttps://secure.lcanimal.org/page/100507/action/1

SUMMARY:Tell Queen's University NOT to Kill Its Lab Dogs!
DESCRIPTION:Ontario has officially passed a historic law banning most invasive medical research on dogs and cats! Because labs can no longer conduct most invasive medical research on dogs and cats once the law takes effect on January 1\, 2027\, they must give surviving animals a second chance at life. \nAnimal Justice is aware of six testing labs in Ontario that have recently experimented on dogs or cats. \nWe reached out to these labs\, urging them to have compassion and commit to rehoming any dogs and cats before the January 1 deadline\, and offered to help. None of them responded to our request for a meeting or to commit to a rehoming plan. \nJoin us at Queen’s University to urge decision makers to commit to a rehoming plan. With multiple rescue groups already prepared to house dogs and cats from these labs\, there is no excuse for them not to do the right thing. \nThis landmark provincial ban was won after Animal Justice exposed secret dog cardiac experiments at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London\, Ontario. \nJoin us at Queen’s University on November 7 to make sure every lab dog and cat possible gets placed into a loving home! \nBanner Photo: Nucro-Technics’ Lab\, Last Chance for Animals \nCheck the event page for updates: https://facebook.com/events/s/tell-queens-university-not-to-/1420105856986026/

Because labs can no longer conduct invasive medical research on dogs and cats once the law takes effect on January 1\, 2027\, they must give surviving animals a second chance at life. \nJoin us at University of Guelph to urge decision makers to commit to a rehoming plan. \nJoin us at University of Guelph on November 14 to make sure every lab dog gets placed into a loving home! \nBanner Photo: Nucro-Technics’ Lab\, Last Chance for Animals \nCheck the event page for updates: https://facebook.com/events/s/tell-queens-university-not-to-/1420105856986026/

SUMMARY:Empire of Greed: Sobey's Breaks its Cage-Free Egg Promise to Canadians
DESCRIPTION:Join Mercy For Animals volunteers to demand Sobeys to publish a time-bound plan for fulfilling their pledge to eliminate extreme confinement for hens in their egg supply chain. \nIn 2016\, Sobeys and their parent company\, Empire\, publicly promised to stop sourcing eggs from caged hens by 2025.\nYears later\, despite ruling over some of Canada’s largest and most profitable grocery brands\, Empire retracted their commitment deadline in 2021\, stating that they would not meet their original deadline. \nSobeys promised to publish an updated plan for finishing their transition but has yet to share how and when they plan to fulfill their cage-free promise. \nWe’re urging Sobeys to publish a time-bound plan for fulfilling their pledge to eliminate extreme confinement for hens in their egg supply chain. \nPlease always treat MFA organizers and fellow volunteers with utmost respect\, upholding our organizational structure and core values during all events. Please be punctual\, as the briefing begins immediately at the scheduled start time. The professionalism\, dedication\, and integrity of our actions directly shape how the public perceives our mission. \nLearn about our current Canadian campaign here: https://empireofgreed.ca \nWe will have a banner\, signs\, and leaflets to use on the day of. Come with yourself\, and bonus if you can bring a friend! \nBy attending this and other Mercy For Animals events\, you agree to our Volunteer Terms (https://mercyforanimals.org/volunteer-terms/) and Volunteer Handbook (https://file-cdn.mercyforanimals.org/…/MFA-Volunteer…). \nIf you have any questions\, feel free to message me on Facebook or by email at animalsmatter@hotmail.com. \nThank you\,\nKelli Demontneay

SUMMARY:Animal Activists Year-End Bash @TheLab
DESCRIPTION:O’ come all ye feisty! Uh-oh…looks like somebody (Vish?!?) has finally given that fur-trimmed red suit the treatment it deserves! (ho-ho-HOLY MOLY!) \nYou’ve marched\, protested\, petitioned\, leafleted\, educated\, advocated\, served up vegan vittles\, and alienated and annoyed your friends\, family\, neighbours\, and colleagues all year long. Now it’s time to put down the placards and megaphones and take a break from saving the animals for a few short hours (don’t worry\, the exploiters will still be there on Sunday). \nJoin us for an evening of good food\, great company\, questionable dance moves\, and partaking in some well-deserved kicking back as we wrap up another year of speaking up for the animals. \nWhether you’re a seasoned activist or a relative newcomer\, we’d love to have you join us (Santa is NOT invited until he commits to going fur-free and gets himself an e-sleigh). It’s a chance to celebrate our collective efforts and recharge our batteries for the tough year ahead. \n🥗 It’s a potluck! Bring along your favourite vegan dish to share. Let’s put together a smorgasbord worthy of the occasion. Please label your contribution with your name\, the name of your dish\, and a list of ingredients (so everyone can enjoy the feast safely). \n📅 Saturday\, December 19 | 5–10 PM\n📍 The Lab | 108 Dundas St. W.\, Toronto \n💚 Admission is free! Donations to Wishbone Animal Rights Lab and The Lab are always gratefully appreciated and help us keep doing what we do. \nWe all know animal rights activism can be serious business…but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a seriously good time!\nLet’s end the year on a high note…together! 🌱🎉
