They’re also looking for passionate activists interested in engaging in compassionate outreach and helping to distribute the flowers/seeds.\nBYOM (bring your own materials) or feel free to use what’s available at the Lab. \nAll skill levels from zero to Picasso are welcome. \nWe are a default-vegan centre\, so if you’re bringing food\, it must be plant-based only. \nAs the building that houses Wishbone is a heritage building boasting one of the last attendant-operated elevators in the city of Toronto (but only during weekday office hours)\, Wishbone will unfortunately not be accessible to anyone requiring a lift to the third floor for this particular event. If you’ve already taken this action\, please share any updates with us or call again if you haven’t yet had a meeting! \nEvery year\, thousands of gentle\, intelligent horses are forced into cramped wooden crates and flown halfway across the world from Canada to Japan. Terrified and confused\, they endure long\, grueling flights—only to be fattened and then slaughtered for raw horse meat (sashimi). \nThis fall\, the Liberal government will introduce a new budget bill\, which can include non-budgetary measures like a ban on live horse exports. In 2022\, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) banned dogs from over 100 countries from being brought into Canada for adoption or rescue. The ban was billed as temporary to protect against rabies\, but rabies is 100% vaccine-preventable\, and it has yet to be lifted. \nTragically\, international dog rescue charities were forced to stop their important work due to the ban. Canada was once a beacon of hope for dogs living on the streets and in shelters around the world—including in war-torn countries and in others where rescuers are saving animals from the meat trade. DESCRIPTION:Join Mercy For Animals volunteers to demand Sobeys to publish a time-bound plan for fulfilling their pledge to eliminate extreme confinement for hens in their egg supply chain. \nIn 2016\, Sobeys and their parent company\, Empire\, publicly promised to stop sourcing eggs from caged hens by 2025.\nYears later\, despite ruling over some of Canada’s largest and most profitable grocery brands\, Empire retracted their commitment deadline in 2021\, stating that they would not meet their original deadline.  \nSobeys promised to publish an updated plan for finishing their transition but has yet to share how and when they plan to fulfill their cage-free promise.  \nWe’re urging Sobeys to publish a time-bound plan for fulfilling their pledge to eliminate extreme confinement for hens in their egg supply chain.  \nLearn about our current Canadian campaign here: https://empireofgreed.ca \nWe will be at the Sobeys located at 24 Fort York Blvd\, Toronto\, ON M5V\, Canada\, Saturday\, October 25\, 2025\, at 1 PM to inform the public about this issue and hold them accountable to their promise.  \nWe will have a banner\, signs\, and leaflets to use the day of.
