SUMMARY:PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION AT MNRF OFFICES
DESCRIPTION:This is a peaceful protest / demonstration outside of the MNRF offices in Peterborough. The purpose of our attendance is three-fold: \n1) to bring attention & public awareness about the MNRF’s grotesque actions on Sept 26th with our presence\, protest signs\, displays\, & information handouts. There will be a few extra signs & lots of information handouts available.\n2) to provide as many people as possible with the easy-to-follow Action Steps so that they may have their voices be heard on this matter.\n3) to apply pressure to the MNRF by making them aware that our passion for this issue is not quieting down\, and that the public is still demanding answers about the well-being and future plans of all of Mally’s raccoons. \nPlease – no blocking people or traffic\, no following people\, no swearing\, no accosting. It’s important that we maintain the public’s favour of the raccoons and Mally’s. \nThere is plenty of street parking all around the front entrance at 300 Water St\, Peterborough\, including Accessible parking directly in front.

Her time was spread across diverse efforts including vigils\, protests\, street outreach\, humane education\, animal care\, and more. Alaina’s journey as an animal activist led her to become an Ordained Interspecies Animal Chaplain. As an Animal Chaplain\, Alaina instructs mindfulness techniques that transcend species boundaries\, advocates for exploited beings in religious\, spiritual\, and secular contexts\, and supports individuals in navigating the emotional challenges of animal loss. Alaina was certified in Animals and Human Health from the Institute for Human-Animal Connection. She also obtained a Vegan Permaculture Design certificate\, allowing her to approach situations with a holistic perspective. With eleven years of working with students from diverse backgrounds – including a focus on supporting students of all abilities – she brings deep empathy and insightful guidance to her work. \nThis workshop offers a unique opportunity to nurture your compassion\, practice self-care\, and find support within a community of like-minded advocates. SUMMARY:Toronto Pig Save weekly vigil for the Pigs
DESCRIPTION:Don’t turn away. Please join us to bear witness to\, and to speak up for\, the thousands of baby pigs whose lives are needlessly and violently stolen from them daily at Fearman’s slaughterhouses. \nPlacards\, leaflets\, support are provided.\n——————————- \nPlease read these vigil and safety notes prior to attending. \n☮️ Keeping Save Movement vigils peaceful. \n1) The purpose of Save Movement vigils is to bear witness\, to see the reality\, to connect\, to document\, then to share with others. To bring peace to a violent space. Disruptions can take place at a different time. \n2) Truck Drivers:\nThough we don’t respect what they are doing for a living\, let’s respect the drivers for giving us this time to show the world the plight of farmed animals. \n3) Slaughterhouse Workers:\nSome workers may try to taunt (though rarely anymore). Offer a wave or peace sign instead of a negative reaction. Break the cycle of violence. \nKeep Arms out of the truck: \nWe’ve experienced a few serious injuries from vigil attendees putting hands/arms into the truck. Please avoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons: \n1) The truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it. \n2) Pigs are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some pigs will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand. \n3) Fear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. This may cause them stress. \n❤️❤️ Thank you for your understanding and for coming to bear witness and to be their voice. Please bring a friend. They desperately need you.

SUMMARY:Call to Action - Email to NUNAVUT Member of Parliament
DESCRIPTION:***Each week\, a different province or territory will be the focus of our call to action. Only a few more weeks left until all Members of Parliament in all provinces and territories have been contacted! \nRecently\, bills C-47 and S-5 became law. The parts of these two bills pertaining to animal testing will prevent millions of lives from being bred into an existence of exploitation. With the passing of these two bills\, Canada has become a leader in the fight against vivisection\, which we hope will lead down the path toward a total ban on animal testing across all industries. \nEach year\, millions of animals are used and tortured in post-secondary institutions around the world and according to new research commissioned by the Animal Alliance of Canada Fund (AAC Fund)\, 8 in 10 Canadians want post-secondary institutions to stop using animals for educational purposes\, research\, and testing. \nIn 2021\, University of Toronto alone used 159\,803 animals from 161 species. \nIt would be in the best interest of post-secondary institutions across the country to heed these findings and move toward transitioning to non-animal research methods. \nPlease take a few seconds to send a pre-written email to the Nunavut Member of Parliament\, asking them to build on the momentum of passing bills C-47 and S-5 and introduce a new bill that will ban all post-secondary institutions from using animals for educational purposes\, research\, and testing. All executives in the animal research department at University of Toronto will be bcc’d on the email. \nThank you all for taking part in this email call to action. Only a few more weeks left until all Members of Parliament in all provinces and territories have been contacted! \nInvite your friends and family and share this action.\nThank you. \nhttps://tinyurl.com/w67wmedm

SUMMARY:Ending Real Fur Premiere
DESCRIPTION:The independent award-winning Canadian documentary Ending Real Fur invites you to a star-studded evening to celebrate the release of the film at this event. Real Fur is an eye-opening investigative documentary about the true cost of the fur farming industry in Canada. It follows the journey of director Taimoor Choudhry as he transforms from being an uninformed consumer to a passionate activist through interviews with animal rights leaders\, changemakers\, fashion experts\, lawyers\, politicians\, and celebrities in an effort to make real change. \nReal Fur differentiates itself from other documentaries in that it offers audiences the tools to enact change while also providing a final vision of hope. In the making of the film\, Taimoor Choudhry and Real Fur have become associated with various animal justice groups across Canada and internationally\, such as: The Fur-Bearers\, Animal Justice\, Last Chance for Animals\, and PETA\, who have closely supported the film. \nhttps://www.realfurfilm.com \nInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/realfurfilm/?hl=en \nFacebook: https://web.facebook.com/realfurfilm \n  \n

SUMMARY:Animal Victims of War Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:We hope that you will join us for a peaceful ceremony remembering the animals used in war both past and present at the Toronto Peace Garden at City Hall in Toronto. We will gather for about an hour or so and share a few words in honour of the animal victims of the brutality of war. \nWe brought the Animal Victims of War purple poppy campaign to Canada to ensure that the tens of millions of animal lives lost to war are recognized as victims and not heroes. The purple poppy campaign is a complimentary or alternative poppy to the red poppy of the Royal Canadian Legion. It is not meant in any way to undermine or reject the red poppy and its symbolism of the human lives who served and died in war. It is a way for people to recognize the significant loss of animal life that is not represented in symbol or ceremony of the red poppy. \nIf you would like\, you can buy a Purple Poppy pin through the website link below: \nhttps://animalsinwar.ca/ \nWe look forward to seeing you on November 11th. Please let us know if you have any questions at all. \n

SUMMARY:Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Outreach Event
DESCRIPTION:Part 3- Join us for our last peaceful outreach event outside the Royal Agricultural Fair. The objective is to inform passersby and the public entering the fair that: \n1. This Fair is industry propaganda and not to believe the ‘happy farm animal’ lie.\n2. Most of the animals they see in the fair will suffer a terrible death at a fraction of their natural lifespan.\n3. Ask them to watch Dominion to see the truth.\n4. Encourage them to consider visiting sanctuaries if they truly love animals. \nExact location will either be at the corner of Strachan and Lakeshore (Princess Gate) or closer to Medieval Times. Will post exact location on the day. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Outreach Event
DESCRIPTION:Part 2- Join us for a peaceful outreach event outside the Royal Agricultural Fair. Will post exact location on the day \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Call to Action - Email to NOVA SCOTIA Members of Parliament
DESCRIPTION:***Each week\, a different province or territory will be the focus of our call to action. We’re almost there! \nPlease take a few seconds to send a pre-written email to Nova Scotia Members of Parliament\, asking them to build on the momentum of passing bills C-47 and S-5 and introduce a new bill that will ban all post-secondary institutions from using animals for educational purposes\, research\, and testing. All executives in the animal research department at University of Toronto will be bcc’d on the email. \nThe email link will be posted on November 8 at 8 a.m. in the discussion section. \nThank you.
