SUMMARY:Toronto Pig Save weekly vigil for the Pigs
DESCRIPTION:Don’t turn away. Please join us to bear witness to\, and to speak up for\, the thousands of baby pigs whose lives are needlessly and violently stolen from them daily at Fearman’s slaughterhouses. \nPlacards\, leaflets\, support are provided.\n——————————- \nPlease read these vigil and safety notes prior to attending. \n☮️ Keeping Save Movement vigils peaceful. \n1) The purpose of Save Movement vigils is to bear witness\, to see the reality\, to connect\, to document\, then to share with others. To bring peace to a violent space. Disruptions can take place at a different time. \n2) Truck Drivers:\nThough we don’t respect what they are doing for a living\, let’s respect the drivers for giving us this time to show the world the plight of farmed animals. \n3) Slaughterhouse Workers:\nSome workers may try to taunt (though rarely anymore). Offer a wave or peace sign instead of a negative reaction. Break the cycle of violence. \n????‍ Keep Arms out of the truck: \nWe’ve experienced a few serious injuries from vigil attendees putting hands/arms into the truck. Please avoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons: \n1) The truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it. \n2) Pigs are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some pigs will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand. \n3) Fear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. This may cause them stress. \n❤️????❤️ Thank you for your understanding and for coming to bear witness and to be their voice. Please bring a friend. They desperately need you.

SUMMARY:Call to Action - Email to Quebec Members of Parliament
DESCRIPTION:***Each week\, a different province or territory will be the focus of our call to action. Only TWO more to go after this! \nRecently\, bills C-47 and S-5 became law. The parts of these two bills pertaining to animal testing will prevent millions of lives from being bred into an existence of exploitation. With the passing of these two bills\, Canada has become a leader in the fight against vivisection\, which we hope will lead down the path toward a total ban on animal testing across all industries. \nEach year\, millions of animals are used and tortured in post-secondary institutions around the world and according to new research commissioned by the Animal Alliance of Canada Fund (AAC Fund)\, 8 in 10 Canadians want post-secondary institutions to stop using animals for educational purposes\, research\, and testing. \nIn 2021\, University of Toronto alone used 159\,803 animals from 161 species. \nIt would be in the best interest of post-secondary institutions across the country to heed these findings and move toward transitioning to non-animal research methods. \nPlease take a few seconds to send a pre-written email to all Quebec Members of Parliament\, asking them to build on the momentum of passing bills C-47 and S-5 and introduce a new bill that will ban all post-secondary institutions from using animals for educational purposes\, research\, and testing. All executives in the animal research department at University of Toronto will be bcc’d on the email. \nhttps://tinyurl.com/MP-Quebec \nThank you.

SUMMARY:PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION AT MNRF OFFICES
DESCRIPTION:This is a peaceful protest / demonstration outside of the MNRF offices in Peterborough. The purpose of our attendance is three-fold: \n1) to bring attention & public awareness about the MNRF’s grotesque actions on Sept 26th with our presence\, protest signs\, displays\, & information handouts. There will be a few extra signs & lots of information handouts available.\n2) to provide as many people as possible with the easy-to-follow Action Steps so that they may have their voices be heard on this matter.\n3) to apply pressure to the MNRF by making them aware that our passion for this issue is not quieting down\, and that the public is still demanding answers about the well-being and future plans of all of Mally’s raccoons. \nPlease – no blocking people or traffic\, no following people\, no swearing\, no accosting. It’s important that we maintain the public’s favour of the raccoons and Mally’s. \nThere is plenty of street parking all around the front entrance at 300 Water St\, Peterborough\, including Accessible parking directly in front.
