SUMMARY:Toronto Pig Save weekly vigil for the Pigs
DESCRIPTION:Don’t turn away. Please join us to bear witness to\, and to speak up for\, the thousands of baby pigs whose lives are needlessly and violently stolen from them daily at Fearman’s slaughterhouses. \nPlacards\, leaflets\, support are provided.\n——————————- \nPlease read these vigil and safety notes prior to attending. \n☮️ Keeping Save Movement vigils peaceful. \n1) The purpose of Save Movement vigils is to bear witness\, to see the reality\, to connect\, to document\, then to share with others. To bring peace to a violent space. Disruptions can take place at a different time. \n2) Truck Drivers:\nThough we don’t respect what they are doing for a living\, let’s respect the drivers for giving us this time to show the world the plight of farmed animals. \n3) Slaughterhouse Workers:\nSome workers may try to taunt (though rarely anymore). Offer a wave or peace sign instead of a negative reaction. Break the cycle of violence. \n????‍ Keep Arms out of the truck: \nWe’ve experienced a few serious injuries from vigil attendees putting hands/arms into the truck. Please avoid the temptation to reach inside for the following reasons: \n1) The truck may suddenly move\, trapping/taking you with it. \n2) Pigs are extremely large and heavy beings. Though they may not intend to hurt\, a human arm may frighten them and simple movement can crush or break bones. Instead\, offer your hand just at the opening of the truck. Some pigs will choose to come to you and sniff/lick your hand. \n3) Fear. Many of these beings have not known kind human hands in the past. This may cause them stress. \n❤️????❤️ Thank you for your understanding and for coming to bear witness and to be their voice. Please bring a friend. They desperately need you.

SUMMARY:Urge Burnbrae Farms to Stop Investing in Cruel Cages!
DESCRIPTION:Join Mercy for Animals as we target Burnbrae Farms for their failure in chicken welfare. Day after day\, hundreds of thousands of hens in Burnbrae’s operations suffer in cramped wire cages—without room to walk freely or comfortably spread their wings.\nBurnbrae Farms\, Canada’s largest egg supplier\, claims to value animal welfare and transparency. Yet the company is still investing in cage confinement for birds and failing to disclose the number of hens cruelly kept in cages in its operations. Chickens can no longer wait for change. \nIt’s clear—a majority of Canadians find cages unacceptable. In response\, over 130 companies in Canada have committed to banning cages in their supply chains. But the Canadian egg industry continues to invest in the extreme confinement of hens. \nWe will meet at 1PM outside just west of the southwest corner of Yonge Street and Dundas Square\, We’ll be on the sidewalk outside of the Eaton Centre of H&M. (1 Dundas St. E.\, Toronto\, ON M5B 2R8\, Canada). \nSigns\, leaflets\, and props will be provided\, so just bring yourself and a friend! \nPlease take action and sign here. https://cagefree.ca/burnbrae-harms/ \n“By attending this and other Mercy For Animals events\, you agree to our Volunteer Terms and Volunteer Handbook. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:AR Chats at Wishbone
DESCRIPTION:Let’s return Toronto and other cities in Ontario to the thriving\, prolific animal activism centres they once were. \nJoin with other like-minded and like-hearted people to chat\, brainstorm\, and strategize about standing up for the animals!\nAfter each session\, attendees are encouraged to participate in a street action to put your new skills and energy into practice. And sometimes homework will be assigned and due for discussion at the next scheduled meeting. \nAttend when you can\, no pressure. \nWhether you’re a seasoned advocate or someone new to the scene\, this is a judgment-free\, no-pressure environment that welcomes every idea and supports every comfort level. \nBecause each person is uniquely wired and different tactics resonate with different people\, there’s no one foolproof form of activism…it can be effective\, without being complicated or elaborate. And it doesn’t have to restrict itself to traditional methods like street marches with loud chants or holding up graphic imagery on a street corner (although both of these can be quite impactful…and often feel really good!). Instead\, standing up for animals can take on a variety of unique forms — almost as varied as the individuals taking part and the members of the public receiving the message. Every small action contributes to creating a world that respects and protects animals. \nAs the McKnight Building (600 Bay) is a heritage building boasting one of the last attendant-operated elevators in the city of Toronto\, the building is often not accessible on weekends. Our apologies in advance for this inconvenience. \nWishbone Animal Rights Lab…where vegan is the default\, NOT the option.

SUMMARY:AR Chats at Wishbone
DESCRIPTION:Let’s return Toronto and other cities in Ontario to the thriving\, prolific animal activism centres they once were. \nJoin with other like-minded and like-hearted people to chat\, brainstorm\, and strategize about standing up for the animals! \nAfter each session\, attendees are encouraged to participate in a street action to put your new skills and energy into practice (this is totally voluntary\, no pressure). And sometimes homework will be assigned and due for discussion at the next scheduled meeting.\nSome attend one week but can’t come to the next one…attend when you can. We will be alternating Saturdays and Sundays.

SUMMARY:Powerful Post-NARD Demonstration for Wildlife & Wildlife Rehabbers
DESCRIPTION:We hope you can join us immediately following the National Animal Rights Day demonstration and march as we gather outside a prominent building in Downtown Toronto (exact location will be shared privately to those who mark themselves as “Going”) to make a powerful statement to our Provincial Government and the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNRF) which will bring attention to the true cost and real consequence of the MNRF’s unofficial yet effective campaign against our Wildlife Rehabbers … the suffering and death of innocent wildlife that should have been given a chance. \nFor the details of this powerful demonstration\, please message us\, as the details will not be made public beforehand.\nEvery single day\, there are dozens of cries for help from caring and compassionate citizens who want to find help for a wild animal in distress. But we’ve got no solutions to offer them any longer. Our Rescue Centres are full. Our Fosters have all they can handle. The MNRF is showing up to the homes of people trying to help\, and demanding they surrender the wildlife to them … undoubtedly for euthanization. \nOntario has fewer than 25% of the Wildlife Rehabbers they had 20 years ago before this campaign against them began. The MNRF has not been issuing new ‘licenses’ for years. There are capable and caring people who have taken the Internationally accepted courses and submitted applications to the MNRF only to have their applications ignored. What’s going on here?! With only 46 Rescue Centres remaining\, we are in a critical state for our wildlife. Enough is enough! \nThe harassment of our Wildlife Rehabbers must stop! The MNRF must step up to perform their mandated duties as Regulators of our Rehabbers! And\, if they can’t step up … then step down! \nThe agency and civil servants that support and participate in hunting\, trapping\, penned dog hunting\, and unnecessary live-animal research CANNOT also be regulating the Wildlife Rehabbing community that has dedicated their lives to saving these same animals. \nNOTE: Please check the Facebook event page for further details.
