SUMMARY:Tell Queen's University NOT to Kill Its Lab Dogs!
DESCRIPTION:Ontario has officially passed a historic law banning most invasive medical research on dogs and cats! Because labs can no longer conduct most invasive medical research on dogs and cats once the law takes effect on January 1\, 2027\, they must give surviving animals a second chance at life. \nAnimal Justice is aware of six testing labs in Ontario that have recently experimented on dogs or cats. \nWe reached out to these labs\, urging them to have compassion and commit to rehoming any dogs and cats before the January 1 deadline\, and offered to help. None of them responded to our request for a meeting or to commit to a rehoming plan. \nJoin us at Queen’s University to urge decision makers to commit to a rehoming plan. With multiple rescue groups already prepared to house dogs and cats from these labs\, there is no excuse for them not to do the right thing. \nThis landmark provincial ban was won after Animal Justice exposed secret dog cardiac experiments at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London\, Ontario. \nJoin us at Queen’s University on November 7 to make sure every lab dog and cat possible gets placed into a loving home! \nBanner Photo: Nucro-Technics’ Lab\, Last Chance for Animals \nCheck the event page for updates: https://facebook.com/events/s/tell-queens-university-not-to-/1420105856986026/

SUMMARY:Protest & Outreach to Save the York 9
DESCRIPTION:🚨 PROTEST TO STOP YORK UNIVERSITY’S PRIMATE RESEARCH \n📍 TTC York University subway station entrances at 120 Ian McDonald Blvd.\, Toronto\n🕜 Monday\, October 26th | 3 PM – 5 PM \nSigns\, banners\, leaflets\, and tablets to play investigation footage will be provided. We’ll be handing out Save the York 9 t-shirts and tote bags to students to wear around campus. Please keep outreach friendly and respectful. If possible\, avoid clothing with unrelated logos or messaging so our campaign visuals remain clear and unified. Please follow organizers’ plans for the day. Questions\, ideas\, and feedback are always welcome\, and we can discuss them together at the end of the event. \n📢 Invite your friends and share this event. The bigger our turnout\, the harder this issue is to ignore. \n🐒 WHY WE’RE THERE\nNine rhesus macaques are currently being used in experiments at York University. Some have reportedly spent more than 17 years inside the laboratory. \nAn undercover investigation by Last Chance for Animals (LCA) documented disturbing conditions and procedures\, including water restriction\, permanent restraint collars\, permanent head posts and chamber implants in their skulls for brain access\, repeated invasive surgeries\, prolonged social isolation and stereotypic behaviours associated with psychological distress. According to the investigation\, some macaques were observed drinking their own urine amid water restriction\, while one\, Liesl\, has suffered significant vision loss. Seven of the nine were reportedly housed alone. \nWe want the York 9 released so they can finally retire from research. \nBut this campaign is about more than nine macaques. \n🔬 OLD SCIENCE → NEW SCIENCE \nWe are also calling for a transition away from animal experimentation and toward modern\, human-relevant New Approach Methodologies (NAMs). \nInstead of continuing invasive experiments on primates\, we want to see Canada invest in innovative non-animal science and educate the next generation of researchers in methods that don’t depend on harming animals. \n⬇️ LEARN MORE • WATCH THE INVESTIGATION • TAKE ACTION\nhttps://www.SaveTheYork9.com \nOther ways you can help below.\nOntario Residents: Tell Your MPP to Ban Primate Testing\nhttps://secure.lcanimal.org/page/100401/action/1 \nPremier Ford: Ban Primate Testing in Ontario\nhttps://secure.lcanimal.org/page/100507/action/1

SUMMARY:Tell Transpharmation NOT to Kill Its Lab Dogs!
DESCRIPTION:Ontario has officially passed a historic law banning most invasive medical research on dogs and cats! Because labs can no longer conduct invasive medical research on dogs and cats once the law takes effect on January 1\, 2027\, they must give surviving animals a second chance at life. \nJoin us at Transpharmation in Fergus to urge decision makers to commit to a rehoming plan. \nJoin us at Transpharmation on October 25 to make sure every lab dog gets placed into a loving home! \nCheck the event page for updates at https://facebook.com/events/s/tell-transpharmation-not-to-ki/857421674094317/
