DESCRIPTION:With the upcoming court case for Mally’s\, and the recent increase in media attention\, these public awareness events are more important than ever as only one side of this story is being told in the media until the court case takes place. We need people to know the truth about how the MNRF conducts themselves with Ontario’s Wildlife Rehabbers. \nWe’ll be setting up at this busy intersection in Newmarket using banners\, protest signs\, literature handouts\, and public outreach (all will be provided by organizers) to share our outrage and disgust over the abuse and murder of Mally’s 87 raccoons at the hands of the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNRF)\, as well as the decades of MNRF over-reach and tyrannical authoritarian-style regulation of Ontario’s Wildlife Rehabbers. Feel free to bring yours\, too! \n**If it is supposed to rain during the planned date and time\, the event will take place on Sunday instead. We’ll share an update if that’s the case!** \nLearn more: \nAnimal Justice is a member of the Open Wing Alliance (OWA)— a global coalition of organizations focused on ending the abuse of hens worldwide. \nOn February 13th\, OWA released Fair and Foul\, Global Travel Edition\, a report that exposes global hospitality and travel companies that are not reporting globally on their global cage-free commitments. OWA is now asking four (4) of those companies – Hilton\, Meliá Hotels International\, and Louvre Hotels Group – to keep their promises and publicly report on their global progress. \nBy providing detailed reporting on their progress\, these companies will catch up with major global hospitality groups like Aman Resorts\, StarHotels Choice Hotels\, IHG\, Dorchester Collection and Motel One which are already reporting on their commitment to end cruel cages in their global supply chains. \n

DESCRIPTION:A full-scale demonstration in front of the people we need to hear us the most … Doug Ford\, all the MPPs (likely including Graydon Smith)\, and registered Conservative Party members. \nThis is an All-Day affair\, and we want to ensure we’re seen and heard\, so we’re committing to have no less than 2 of the 3 co-hosts present out front at any given time from 8am-4pm. \nThe Convention registration and breakfast run from 8am-10am\, with the first session immediately after that\, so this will likely be the time frame that sees the most amount of traffic\, and maybe catches Doug arriving. Please make it for this time if at all possible. \nThe next best option would be approx 1pm-4pm to catch the people who aren’t attending the afternoon sessions in order to freshen up before the dinner event which starts at 5:30pm. \nFYI – a press release will be going out soon to invite the media to come see us that day. SUMMARY:Peaceful Rally for Mally's at Queen's Park Toronto
DESCRIPTION:On September 26\, 2023\, close to 100 raccoons were unjustly and inhumanely seized by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) from Mally’s Third Chance Raccoon Rescue; a family-run\, primarily volunteer-operated\, licensed non-profit wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre (responsible for 100% of their own fundraising\, as no government support is provided for Wildlife Rehabilitation in Ontario). \nThe MNRF terrorized the rescue operators\, community volunteers and the precious raccoons when they took a heavy-handed and aggressive approach with a full-scale raid. In textbook military fashion\, they assigned and deployed approximately 50 Enforcement Officers\, a plane\, helicopter(s)\, and several drones using your Ontario taxpayer’s dollars. The involved Ministry staff elected to override their own policies\, regulations and agreements with authorized Ontario Wildlife Custodians to initiate and carry-out this ambush and seizure of the raccoons in care\, to which there still have been NO charges laid against the operators of Mally’s Third Chance Raccoon Rescue. \nThe MNRF has continued\, for 4 excruciating weeks\, to stonewall Mally’s Custodian and Manager\, other Wildlife Custodians/Volunteers\, Animal Rights & Advocacy groups\, the media\, and the general public as to why such excessive use of force (and tax payer’s dollars) were employed for alleged regulatory issues\, that could have otherwise been addressed through a simple and random site inspection over the 18 prior months\, where the authorized Wildlife Custodian’s requests for compliance inspections went ignored by their MNRF Rep. \nThe MNRF also continues to stonewall the aforementioned concerned parties with regards to the welfare and whereabouts of the raccoons that were recovering from medical conditions and at various stages of rehabilitation. \nWe are gravely concerned for the raccoons’ safety\, well-being and whereabouts. DESCRIPTION:Please join us in a peaceful demonstration in support of Mally’s Third Chance to demand the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry return the raccoons who were forcibly removed from Mally’s care. \nOn Tuesday\, September 26th the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry ambushed Mally’s and seized almost 100 raccoons. These were all raccoons who were given a chance at treatment and recovery from sickness\, injury\, and from being orphaned. The OMNRF has not yet disclosed any information on the status or location of these innocent animals who have all now been traumatized by the disturbing ordeal. The founders\, staff\, and volunteers are also left completely traumatized and helpless.\nWe will be peacefully demonstrating in support of Mally’s to demand the safe return of the raccoons. \nWHERE:\nOMNRF office\n300 Water St\nPeterborough ON K9J 3C7\nWe will demonstrate on the sidewalk on Water St at the entrance of the building \nWHEN:\nTuesday\, October 10 at 11:00am-1:00pm \nCODE OF CONDUCT:\nThis is a peaceful demonstration.
