SUMMARY:CBC Drop the Dairy Contest - Online Animal Justice Mobilization Teams
DESCRIPTION:Tell CBC to Call Off their Canadian Dairy Contest! \nCBC just launched their “Bake it with Canadian Dairy Contest”. They’re sharing recipes that call for dairy products as a main ingredient and are asking members of the public to enter their contest for a chance to win one of five prizes of Canadian dairy for a year.\nThe Canadian dairy industry carries out terrible abuses such as separating mothers and babies\, limiting the cows’ movement by tying them to stalls\, and killing male babies who are of no use to dairy farmers. \nThis is where you come in! Send a message to CBC\, letting them know the cruelty and harms behind their contest and tell them to call it off! \nOn the CBC contact page\, use the drop-down menu to choose “content” and in the form explain why you think they should call off their contest. \nFeel free to use one or multiple of the following talking points\, but please change up the wording. Bonus points if you can add your own personal touch so that your email stands out! \n1. Behind every glass of milk is a mother cow who endures repeated cycles of pregnancy and separation from her calves. Newborns are taken away within hours so her milk can be sold—a practice that causes immense distress for both mother and baby. Newborn male calves are often killed because they’re of no use to the dairy industry.\n2. The dairy industry treats living beings like production machines. When cows’ milk output declines\, they’re sent to slaughter\, often after years of confinement and exhaustion. It’s a cycle of exploitation hidden behind pastoral imagery and “family farm” marketing.\n3. The dairy industry isn’t just cruel to cows—it’s built on systems of inequality. Most people of colour are lactose intolerant\, yet Western diets and marketing still push dairy as a “nutritional necessity.” This reflects a long history of racism in food policy that centers white\, Eurocentric eating habits while ignoring the biological diversity of other communities. \nPlease note that the link to the contact page can’t be shared due to FB restrictions around media. You can find the CBC contact page on their website under “submit feedback” at the bottom of the home page! – I have included the link as well as a scan code to get you to the right page. Just follow the instructions and you should be good to go! \nLets ensure that CBC knows of our displeasure. Let’s begin!

SUMMARY:Social Media Comment Commotion
DESCRIPTION:What’s scarier than Friday the 13th? Ethiopian Airlines transporting monkeys to laboratories for cruel and agonizing experiments\, leading to their eventual\, tragic demise. Now that’s a true horror! \nIn a follow-up to our protest last week at the airline’s Toronto office and in collaboration with our dear friends Progress 4 Science in Los Angeles\, USA\, we have created this important and easy action. Like TAVA\, P4S is working with PETA on its campaign targeting Ethiopian Airlines. \nOn Friday\, December 13\, we are asking as many people as possible to storm Ethiopian Airlines’ Facebook page and cause a commotion by commenting on as many posts as possible (the more recent the post\, the more effective). If you’re able to\, please also bombard the page via Messenger. Sample comments can be found below. \nWe will be posting the airline’s handle on Friday morning. Please refrain from taking part in this call to action until then as we need everyone to participate on the same day. \nThere is also an Instagram action that you can find at www.instagram.com/to.antivivisection. \nHere are some sample comments that you can easily copy and paste:\n– Ethiopian Airlines ships monkeys to laboratories be tortured and killed in crude and painful experiments. Please stop the madness and go cruelty-free!- Your airline has been cited for multiple violations of federal animal welfare laws. Ethiopian Airlines\, do the right thing and stop transporting monkeys to laboratories for agonizing experiments!\n– If you cared about your customers and public safety\, you wouldn’t be flying monkeys to laboratories for experiments\, including from Mauritius where tuberculosis outbreaks on breeding farms are well-documented.\n– I choose not to fly with your airline as I am well-aware that it is complicit in abducting wild monkeys from their natural environment and shipping them to laboratories for cruel and unnecessary experiments\, after which they will be killed. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.
