SUMMARY:From Bath to Bay Street: The Art of Philip McCulloch-Downs
DESCRIPTION:We feel honoured to become caretakers of this powerful collection — of each individual piece — gifted to us by animal rights artivist\, the deeply talented and compassionate\, Philip McCulloch-Downs: The entirety of his early animal rights collection\, lovingly created between 2014 and 2019\, and now entrusted to us here in Toronto. \nWe will be showing selected pieces for this particular exhibit. \nWe want to thank him\, as well\, for going so far above and beyond — organizing\, documenting\, carefully transporting this collection by bus from his little corner of the world in Bath\, England\, all the way to Heathrow Airport\, and releasing it from his flame-red-haired self into the hands of another flame-red-haired person\, the wonderful Robin Waldman\, who carried this precious cargo across the ocean to us here in Toronto: 3\,475 miles/5\,593 kilometres away! \nIt was almost like we were staging an international art heist with all of the preparation that went into this venture\, down to the most minute detail of anything and everything that “could” happen/go wrong. But we pulled it off — and\, frankly\, the romantic undertaking of smuggling a tiny revolution across the Atlantic in a carry-on bag warranted that kind of effort. \nThese works carry years of pensive thought\, grief\, agony\, empathy\, fury\, tenderness\, and hope. Philip didn’t just send paintings — he sent pieces of his heart. \nThank you\, Philip

SUMMARY:"Conversations" with Laura Berman
DESCRIPTION:Continuing with our “The Art of Compassion” exhibition series\, The Lab Vegutainment Centre (operated by your friends at Wishbone Animal Rights Lab) is pleased to bring you the work of Laura Berman\, a Toronto artist transplanted in 2012 to the rural farming community of Castleton\, Ontario. \nExhibit launch and reception will take place Saturday\, November 29th\, with the show running through January 29th\, 2026. Light plant-based refreshments will be served at the reception and elevator access is available via 600 Bay Street. This is a pay-what-you-wish event. \n‘Conversations’ presents a collection of intimate portraits that explore the emotional and interior lives of animals\, illuminating the complexity\, intelligence\, and depth of feeling often overlooked or misunderstood. \nThis exhibition challenges the conventional view of animals as objects or commodities\, inviting viewers to consider them as sentient beings with unique personalities and emotional depth. By focusing on moments of connection and vulnerability\, the works foster empathy and a deeper understanding of the intrinsic value of non-human life. \nThis project is both a visual celebration and an ethical invitation: to see animals not merely as background figures or commodities within our food system\, but as vibrant\, sentient companions sharing our world. \nThrough this lens\, the exhibition encourages a more compassionate\, respectful engagement with all living beings. \nAll work is printed in limited editions by a master printer on archival-quality fine art paper and is available in a variety of sizes. Work is sold unframed. \nTo get the essence of Laura’s work\, please visit:\nhttps://www.laurabermanphotography.com\nhttps://www.facebook.com/laurabermanphotography \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates
