This case raises the novel question of whether a belief in ethical veganism is a type of “creed”\, a protected ground under the Ontario Human Rights Code. \nIn 2023\, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario denied Mr. Knauff’s claim that his belief system as an ethical vegan counted as a creed. Now\, Mr. Knauff seeks judicial review of that decision from the Court. DESCRIPTION:Please join us in a peaceful demonstration in support of Mally’s Third Chance to demand the OMNRF return the raccoons who were forcibly removed from Mally’s care. \nOn Tuesday\, September 26th the OMNRF ambushed Mally’s and seized almost 100 raccoons. These were all raccoons who were given a chance at treatment and recovery from sickness\, injury\, and from being orphaned. The OMNRF has not yet disclosed any information on the status or location of these innocent animals who have all now been traumatized by the disturbing ordeal. DESCRIPTION:Please join us in a peaceful demonstration in support of Mally’s Third Chance to demand the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry return the raccoons who were forcibly removed from Mally’s care. \nOn Tuesday\, September 26th the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry ambushed Mally’s and seized almost 100 raccoons. These were all raccoons who were given a chance at treatment and recovery from sickness\, injury\, and from being orphaned. The OMNRF has not yet disclosed any information on the status or location of these innocent animals who have all now been traumatized by the disturbing ordeal. The founders\, staff\, and volunteers are also left completely traumatized and helpless.\nWe will be peacefully demonstrating in support of Mally’s to demand the safe return of the raccoons. \nWHERE:\nOMNRF office\n300 Water St\nPeterborough ON K9J 3C7\nWe will demonstrate on the sidewalk on Water St at the entrance of the building \nWHEN:\nTuesday\, October 10 at 11:00am-1:00pm \nCODE OF CONDUCT:\nThis is a peaceful demonstration. We will be utilizing our rights and following the law. Please remain only on public property (the sidewalk) and do not physically block passerby\, roads\, or access to building entrances. Please do not use inappropriate or profane language. If you need to smoke please do so away from the building and away from the group. Please do not engage with negative comments or remarks. Please always remain peaceful\, calm\, and non-violent.
