SUMMARY:EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION WORKSHOP
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will provide an introduction to Nonviolent Communication (NVC) for animal advocates. NVC is a communication modality based on principles of Nonviolence\, a philosophy that seeks to find a third way beyond the binary of pacifism and violence. NVC seeks solutions to conflicts that\, through awareness of the needs of all parties\, lead towards healing and reconciliation for all. \nThis highly interactive workshop will cover the basic vocabulary of NVC- observations\, feelings\, needs\, and requests\, and include exercises to begin (or continue) your practice. Building on a background in Kingian nonviolence\, Eva Hamer has been engaging in intensive study of Nonviolent communication for several years\, and she is committed to bringing NVC’s repertoire of creative problem-solving tools to the work of building a stronger culture in the animal movement. \nEva has been organizing in the animal freedom movement since 2015 when she started working with DxE in Chicago\, where she focused on building community\, writing protest music\, and compiling the movements’ songs into an online songbook used by advocates around the world. From 2018-2021\, she worked full-time for DxE\, managing the organization’s many legal cases\, organizing trainings\, and orchestrating large artistic demonstrations.
