SUMMARY:AR Chats at Wishbone
DESCRIPTION:This is a special meeting. We are meeting early to get ready for an action at the Christian music festival at Nathan’s Philip Square. If you have or can create appropriate signs please bring along. (Contact Colleen for more info) \nLet’s return Toronto and other cities in Ontario to the thriving\, prolific animal activism centres they once were. \nJoin with other like-minded and like-hearted people to chat\, brainstorm\, and strategize about standing up for the animals! \nAfter each session\, attendees are encouraged to participate in a street action to put your new skills and energy into practice (this is totally voluntary\, no pressure). And sometimes homework will be assigned and due for discussion at the next scheduled meeting. \nSome attend one week but can’t come to the next one…attend when you can. We will be alternating Saturdays and Sundays. \nWhether you’re a seasoned advocate or someone new to the scene\, this is a judgment-free\, no-pressure environment that welcomes every idea and supports every comfort level. \nBecause each person is uniquely wired and different tactics resonate with different people\, there’s no one foolproof form of activism…it can be effective\, without being complicated or elaborate. And it doesn’t have to restrict itself to traditional methods like street marches with loud chants or holding up graphic imagery on a street corner (although both of these can be quite impactful…and often feel really good!). Instead\, standing up for animals can take on a variety of unique forms — almost as varied as the individuals taking part and the members of the public receiving the message. Every small action contributes to creating a world that respects and protects animals. \nAs the McKnight Building (600 Bay) is a heritage building boasting one of the last attendant-operated elevators in the city of Toronto\, the building is often not accessible on weekends. Our apologies in advance for this inconvenience. \nWishbone Animal Rights Lab…where vegan is the default\, NOT the option. \nNote: Please check the Facebook event page for updates.

SUMMARY:Mercy For Animals x Animal Justice Burnbrae Brunch Fest Takeover
DESCRIPTION:Burnbrae Farms Brunch Festival Protest! \nWelcome to a great chance for activists to help push Burnbrae Farms—Canada’s largest egg company—to stop caging hens. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with Animal Justice\, which recently released undercover footage exposing suffering birds in battery and enriched cages in Canada. \nWe have some exciting new tactics for the demonstration to get Burnbrae’s attention while at Toronto’s Official Brunch Fest on the Grounds at Hotel X in Toronto\, Canada. \nPlease join Mercy For Animals and Animal Justice as we target Burnbrae Farms for their failure to improve hen welfare. Day after day\, hundreds of thousands of hens in Burnbrae’s operations suffer\, trapped in cramped wire cages—without room to walk freely or comfortably spread their wings. \nBurnbrae Farms claims to value animal welfare and transparency. Yet the company is still investing in cage confinement for birds and failing to disclose the number of hens cruelly kept in cages in its operations. Chickens can no longer wait for change. \nPolls are clear—most Canadians find cages unacceptable. In response\, over 130 companies in Canada have committed to banning cages in their supply chains. However\, the Canadian egg industry continues to invest in the extreme confinement of hens. \nWe will meet at 1 PM outside on the corner of 111 Princes’ Blvd.\, Toronto\, ON M6K 3C3. The corner of Lake Shore Blvd. and Newfoundland Dr. \nSigns\, leaflets\, and props will be provided\, so just bring yourself and a friend! \nJoin Mercy For Animals and Animal Justice online\, too. Take action here: :\nMercy For Animals: https://cagefree.ca/burnbrae-harms/\nAnimal Justice: www.burnbraetruth.ca \n“By attending this and other Mercy For Animals events\, you agree to our Volunteer Terms (https://mercyforanimals.org/volunteer-terms/) and Volunteer Handbook (https://file-cdn.mercyforanimals.org/…/MFA-Volunteer…).” \nPlease message me if you have any questions! \nNote: Please check Facebook event page for updates.
