The Excelsior 4 – Sentencing Solidarity Event

August 26 @ 11:00 am

On April 29th, 2019, over 200 activists held a peaceful protest at Excelsior Hog Farm to bring attention to the abhorrent violence and cruelty taking place at the facility. Video footage of the farm shows crowded pens full of pigs suffering from hernias, body lacerations, and golf-sized growths.

As a result of the exposure of these atrocities, Amy Soranno, Nick Schafer, Roy Sasano, and Geoff Regier faced a combined total of 21 indictable offences. Last month, the trial finally came to a close and although Roy & Geogg were acquitted, Amy & Nick were convicted. The maximum sentencing is 10 years in prison.

On August 26th, they will receive their sentencing. Join us in standing in solidarity with Nick & Amy who continually sacrifice their own liberties to expose injustice. In addition to showing our support, our primary objectives will be to showcase the inherent abuse in animal agriculture, spread awareness about this unjust conviction of these compassionate activists, and call on our government to take action.

DETAILS & DRESS
Signs, props, and leaflets will be provided. Please wear black or blue. If you have an MTV or E4 shirt, please wear it. You can purchase an E4 shirt here: https://excelsior4.org/shop Message Jen for an MTV shirt as we still have some sizes available.

We will have TVs to play footage and to hook up to the MTV live stream where they will announce the sentencing. We will run the event until we hear word of sentencing. There will be speakouts, songs, outreach opportunities, and other acts of solidarity.

CODE OF CONDUCT
This is a peaceful protest. We will remain calm and non-violent at all times. Our demeanour will strongly affect the outcome of this event and how we will be perceived by the public. We cannot advocate for a message of peace & non-violence if our actions do not reflect that.

There will be zero tolerance for any kind of behaviour that intimidates, threatens, isolates, or marginalizes another person or group of people.

The marshals will be responsible for dealing with the police and media. Please direct police officers or news reporters to the appropriate marshal.

Your safety is our top priority so please alert a marshal if you feel unsafe and they will assist you. Disengage from any heated conversations with members of the public and direct them to a marshal.

We will stay united as a group and always look out for each other’s safety.
