Friday Vigil for the Pigs
February 19 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
Fearman’s slaughterhouse is located at a busy intersection, many people drive by not even knowing what it is and that Fearman’s kills 40,000+ 4-6 month pigs each and every week.
These pigs enter the slaughterhouse terrified, injured, sick, trapped, thirsty, suffering and sometimes dead and the people of Burlington need to know their tragic plight from birth to slaughter. They also need to know about our beloved friend and fellow activist Regan Russell that was struck down and killed by a slaughterhouse truck driver on June 19th. Regan was an amazing, strong and beautiful human that would still be alive today if Fearman’s worked with us for a safety agreement to bear witness which they have refused even though Halton Police tried to get them to the table in 2019.
We spread out at the 4 corners at the Intersection at Appleby Line and Harvester Road. We hold signs, sticker, leaflet, use the megaphone to raise awareness for the horrible injustice that happens in this horrific building each and every day and in all factory farms and slaughterhouses all around the world
There may be an opportunity to bear witness on the median when the trucks are stopped at the red light but that is not always possible. Nobody is obligated to try and bear witness but some of us will given the opportunity. If you are on the median there are some safety rules that we will provide you.
Signs, stickers and leaflets are provided but feel free to bring your own.
Hope to see you there, the animals need us! 💜
