“The anti-fur movement has been cleaning house this year, with big impact. But throughout Europe, the stain of fur persists.
From April 18 – 24, we will lay siege to the luxury machine that runs on the blood of innocent animals.
That machine is LVMH. It is over five times larger than every prior CAFT campaign target combined. The brand Louis Vuitton alone is bigger than this eight-company sum. Dior is like three Monclers now, but is doubling in size every four years. And Fendi, though reasonable in size, is fanatical in commitment to its core identity/suicide pact: “Fur is Fendi and Fendi is fur.” Last year, these brands joined Celine and Loewe in record-high profits, nearly doubling pre-pandemic levels.
We have some spring cleaning to do. Of established fashion houses yet to publicly go fur-free, almost all are LVMH. Even though fur has been absent in recent years from Marc Jacobs, Celine, Givenchy, Loewe, and five others, they all refuse to take the easy next step and announce a fur-free policy. They can bring back fur whenever they want.
This is unacceptable in 2022. We stand at a crossroads, and half-measures avail us nothing. The absence of these houses from fur-free fashion now sets our movement back. It undermines us with young designers and opens the door for fur’s resurrection. Over and over, the animals have paid for this exact same chicanery with their lives, a horror that will not lie on our consciences. They will make a choice – or we will make it for them.
From April 18 – 24 grab your ammonia and your airhorn, and join us as we mop the floor with the murderers at LVMH.”
