Calling ALL Vegans…and the veg-curious! Please join Sue Spahr and Alec Bosse at a live taping of “Calling All Vegans”, as they strive to raise awareness of veganism and animal rights issues, and aim to network, support, and activate the vegan community…and encourage not-yet-vegans to make the informed and compassionate decision to become vegan. We were hoping to have long-time vegan, animal activist, and all-round wonderful human being, Victoria Moran of Main Street Vegan, visiting with us via Skype, but, Chris, our regular production guy, couldn’t be with us on Monday, so we’re attempting to be as uncomplicated with the technology as possible.
Remember what you were doing when you were 13 years old? Your activities probably didn’t include bearing witness at a slaughterhouse, participating in a Cube of Truth, or marching through the streets of Toronto with your placard held high. Pinar Ari is an exceptional young lady and we look forward to hearing her vegan and activism backstory.
Dairy is scary! The Nut Milk Lady, Celeste London, will be joining us to talk about her gorgeous homemade nut and seed milks and how they can improve your memory, smooth out your skin, and reduce inflammation in your body. Not to mention they’re delicious! Walnut, pumpkin seed, Brazil nut, pecan, and hazelnut milks…take THAT, Big Dairy!
Odette Lawrence of the revolutionary BzzsFree (pronounced Bees Free) will be chatting with us about her delicious cruelty-free alternative to honey and the myriad of ways in which it can be incorporated into so many dishes, both sweet and savoury. And paired with Vegan Stokes Cheese? Heavenly! I am happy to say that: No bees were harmed in the making of this sweetener. Aaaaand her little canine companion, Charlie, will be joining her. Food AND a dog? We love you, Odette!
No doubt you’ve seen the ANIMAL LIBERATION KITCHEN booth at one veg event or another around Toronto. They are always a welcome — and delicious! — addition to the festival circuit. We’ll hear from Tanya Spasic, founder of ALK, about how they’re developing diverse dishes inspired by traditional kitchens from all over the world…vegan-style!
The animal rights movement has finally achieved some…movement. Vegans/AR activists are no longer just on the fringes…we’re everywhere and from every walk of life. Calling All Vegans aims to curate a wide variety of such guests. The show is an opportunity to get to know one another better, network, inspire each other, smash stereotypes, get more “activated”…and have a few laughs in the process! It’s a place where veg businesses and other vegan-ly undertakings both big and small can be celebrated and supported, where viewers can be informed of where to spend their dollars ethically, and where we can discuss “the V(egan) word” in a relaxed, pleasant — but unapologetic — environment.
We shine the spotlight on individuals who are thought-provoking, inspirational, entertaining…each of them making a positive social impact, living and working ethically and in alignment with their moral compass.
