February 26, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pmFree
Osgoode Hall Animal Justice and U of T Animal Justice are pleased to announce an exciting event coming up on February 26th: the first ever Animal Law Career Panel!
We will be hearing from:
Lesli Bisgould, Adjunct Professor at the U of T Faculty of Law, and the Barrister at Legal Aid Ontario’s Clinic Resource Office. She was Canada’s first-ever animal rights lawyer, and author of the textbook “Introduction to Animals and the Law.”
Suzana Gartner, Firm Founder of Gartner & Associates Animal Law, the first animal law firm and mediation practice in Canada dedicated exclusively to animal-related disputes. She has successfully resolved many client cases using an alternative approach to litigation.
Gary Grill, Adjunct Professtor at Osgoode Hall Law School and the Firm Founder of Grill Barristers. A specialist in criminal law, he defended Anita Krajnc in the “pig trial” case in 2017.
Camille Labchuck, Executive-Director of Animal Justice Canada, an organisation leading the legal fight for animals in Canada. As an animal rights lawyer and advocate, her work has exposed and documented cruelty, and protected animal rights activists.
This discussion will be moderated by Ali Pester, Associate at Silver Pennypacker Barristers, and former Osgoode Hall Animal Justice President.
If you are interested in a career in animal law, or learning more about the work that animal lawyers do through academia, mediation, criminal law, or advocacy, you won’t want to miss this event! Hope to see you there.
