SUMMARY:Mobilizing Against Live Exports: Part 2
DESCRIPTION:It’s working. \nThanks to supporters across Canada\, the movement to end live horse exports for slaughter is gaining real political traction and MPs are feeling it. \nHere’s what’s already been achieved together:\n-167 people have requested meetings with their MPs\n-42 meetings have been scheduled or have already taken place\n-41 paper petitions have been launched\n-MPs have told us this is now one of the top issues they’re hearing about from constituents\n-11 MPs have agreed to present petitions in the House of Commons calling for a ban via regulations\n-10 MPs have committed to raising the issue directly with the Prime Minister\, the Minister of Agriculture\, or in Parliament\n-On March 24\, Senator Adler raised a question of live horse exports in the Senate \nThis issue is moving through the political system in a way we haven’t seen before. \nBut we are not done yet. \nTo turn this momentum into a ban on this cruel practice\, we need to grow public pressure and keep increasing the number of Canadians engaging their MPs. \nHere’s How to Join Us: \n1. Email your MP’s constituency office to request a meeting to ask that they help ban live horse exports by raising the issue with the Prime Minister and Agriculture Minister\, requesting that they ban the practice by amending the Health of Animals Regulations. You can find your MP’s contact information HERE: https://www.ourcommons.ca/members/en\n2. Add your name to our tracking form HERE: https://docs.google.com/…/1FAIpQLSdb2bvsLBM…/viewform… \nEmail Script (Feel free to adapt in your own words): \n“Hello\, my name is [NAME]\, and I’m a constituent of [NAME OF MP]. I’m writing to request a meeting with [MP’S NAME] regarding live horse exports for slaughter. This is an important animal welfare issue to me\, and I would appreciate the opportunity to meet in person or by Zoom to discuss having [NAME OF MP] raise the issue with the Prime Minister and Agriculture Minister and request that they ban it by amending the Health of Animals Regulations. Could someone please get back to me about scheduling? Thank you.” \nYou can consult our Action Brief for further details.\nhttps://docs.google.com/…/1klJagihzoC5j4OgcBQOP…/edit… \nSo what are you waiting for? RSVP\, send your email and then update our tracking form!

SUMMARY:Online Event: From Animal Farmers to Animal Advocates
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER NOW: https://bit.ly/3Ovstjv \nPeople who make their living from animal agriculture are often the staunchest defenders of the industry—which is why it matters when a few of them change sides and start fighting for animals instead. \nThis Animal Justice panel brings together former animal farmers\, a slaughterhouse inspector\, and a ranch worker whose conscience and compassion led them from producing and killing animals to advocating for them. \nSome have gone on to open animal sanctuaries. Others have become vocal animal activists and vegan leaders. All of them offer something we don’t get often enough: firsthand accounts from inside animal agriculture—what they saw\, what they did\, and what sparked a change of heart that went against their livelihood\, culture\, and community. \nOur panelists:\n-Renée King-Sonnen: Former cattle rancher & Executive Director of Rowdy Girl Sanctuary\n-Mike Lanigan: Former cattle rancher & co-founder of Farmhouse Garden Animal Home\n-Jennifer Barrett: Former chicken farmer\n-David Magna: Former slaughterhouse inspector turned animal rights advocate\n-Edith Barabash: Former cattle ranch worker & Executive Director of Farmhouse Garden Animal Home \nHosted by: Animal Justice’s Kimberly Carroll \nIn this conversation\, panelists will share:\n-The animals and moments that changed them\n-Farming and slaughter practices that would shock most people\n-The beliefs that kept them in the industry—and what finally cracked their thinking open\n-How they transitioned out of animal agriculture and rebuilt their lives\n-What advocates should understand about the industry and the mindset of people inside it\n-What they’ve learned about effectively reaching non-vegans \nThis is an especially powerful panel to invite people who care about animals but haven’t connected the dots yet. And for advocates\, it’s a rare chance to hear directly from industry insiders—gather meaningful stories and insights for your own outreach and reignite your hope. \nBecause if people who once made their living from animal exploitation can change… anyone can. \nRegister now to secure your spot! https://bit.ly/3Ovstjv
